Kenya
  Gedi/watamu

En route to Malindi, further up the North coast, we come to Gedi, a town inexplicably abandoned in the 17th century and well preserved today.

Further along, is Watamu Marine Park, where one can fish, scuba dive, water-ski or just relax on the shimmering white beaches. Scuba divers delight in the breathtaking & colorful coral gardens, and one can visit the underwater cave housing a collection of very large groupers or giant rock cod.

They hang upside down and are 5 to 6 feet long, weighing several hundred pounds. However, this is a trip for the experienced divers only as the undercurrents are swift and unpredictable.
