The Reserve covering 1672 square kilometres (645 square miles) is an extension of the world famous Serengeti National Park.
Home to the black-maned lion, the Reserve also offers glimpses of the rest of the Big Five (Lion,Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino, Leopard), as well as other plains game such as wildebeest, gazelles, zebras, impala, topi, hartebeest, giraffe, eland, hippo, warthog, bushpig, giant forest hog, cheetah, hyena, wild dog, jackal, and antelopes such as dik-dik, grey duiker, klipspringer & steinbeck.
It also serves as a backdrop to the most magnificent wildlife spectacle of all - the Migration of the wildebeest from Serengeti to the Mara during the months of July to September every year. The Reserve is home to the proud 'shuka' clad Maasai people, whose prowess in battle and in fights with wild animals is legendary
