This is a short safari that first takes you to Nairobi's most popular local attractions, as well as give you an opportunity to explore this vibrant city, without the need to hire a vehicle or taxi. One can shop for souvenirs, enjoy a coffee and also have lunch at Nairobi's famous meat eatery. If you're coming from a different time zone, this will allow you to get over your jet lag. After a couple of days, drive to Lake Nakuru National Park and stay at the newest luxurious lodge, recently opened.
Day 1: Arrival into Nairobi
Upon arrival into Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and transferred by minivan to your Nairobi city hotel, Villa Rosa Kempinski, where you are booked on bed & breakfast basis. All other meals and activities will not be included and the rest of the day is at leisure. You can decide to dine in any of the hotel's restaurants, take a spa treatment at the hotel's spa or just relax by the heated swimming pool. This will give you time to unwind and enjoy Nairobi's weather & hospitality.
Day 2: Explore Nairobi City
Today, you will awaken refreshed and ready to explore Nairobi's best attractions. After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Karen where the Giraffe Center is located. Here, you can feed the Rothschild giraffe and get to learn about them. Before 11 a.m. you will have already been transferred to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust which is open strictly from 11 a.m. - 12 noon daily. Watch the orphaned baby elephants being fed after visiting the forest with their keepers. Around noon, leave DSWT for the Carnivore Restaurant where you will have lunch. Vegetarian option available. After lunch, you can go souvenir shopping either to the current location of the Maasai Market which moves daily, Utamaduni, Marula Manor or any of the shopping malls. Return by 6 p.m. latest and rest of the evening at leisure. Breakfast at the hotel, lunch at Carnivore, entrance fees to the Giraffe Centre & DSWT are included. Drinks & tips at the Carnivore, dinner, shopping and all other extras are excluded.
Day 3: Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be driven approximately two & a half hours to Lake Nakuru National Park. Here you may go on a game drive en route to your Lodge, one of the newest and most luxurious places in Lake Nakuru, The Cliff.
Upon arrival at The Cliff, you can get a cool refreshing drink at the pool or maybe a coffee in the lounge served by a professional barista, until your room is ready for you to freshen up for lunch. After lunch, you can unwind on your deck or perhaps go for a dip in the pool, or maybe even get a massage. In the evening, go on a game drive to look for birdlife, possibly flamingos near the lake shore. Return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Lake Nakuru National Park
Today, you will go for game drives in the Park, in the early morning and late afternoon hours, as well as explore the area around the lake shore to see the flamingoes. Hippo can be sighted here as well, together with incredible bird varieties. Enjoy yoga sessions at the lodge, or get pampered at the Spa (all at extra cost).
Day 5: Return to Nairobi
Depart after breakfast and drive back to Nairobi, where you will arrive in the late morning or early afternoon hours. Transfer to your hotel where you are booked on bed & breakfast basis. Rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy the facilities at the hotel which include 6 restaurants, a heated pool and a spa.
Day 6: End of trip
Breakfast and transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
