Security - Although Tanzania is well policed, security cannot be taken for granted. Precautions should be taken to protect you and your valuables, and items of great value are better off placed in the bank or a safety deposit locker.
Health Requirements - Persons originating from countries where cholera and malaria are prevalent, need to have valid vaccinations against these diseases. It is recommended that visitors take malaria prophylactics, two weeks before arrival into the country.
Climate - The temperature changes within a very small margin, throughout the year. Coastal areas are hot and humid, with pleasant sea breezes from June to September. The hottest months of the year are between October and February, with the “long rains” falling between March to May and the “short rains” from October to December.
Road Services - Tanzania has almost 24,800 km of road surface. Although most primary roads are tarred, they are subject to deterioration due to heavy rains and intense sunshine. The roads to the northern parks have been recently upgraded, allowing better and faster access to these parks.
Air Services - Light aircraft companies operate schedule services to all the major parks, as well as to interior and coastal destinations such as Dodoma, Mwanza, Mafia, Zanzibar, and Pemba.
Currency regulations - There is no limit to the amount of foreign currency imported into the country, provided it is declared upon arrival. Tanzanian currency cannot be imported and has to be reconverted, against your currency declaration form and bank receipts, before you depart.
